MWC Sends Four to Compete in Individual Events at NCAA Championships BYU sends Allen, Azevedo and Price, while Knaute will represent Air Force.
March 12, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference will have four representatives in individual races at this weekend's NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. BYU, which qualified three individuals, will also race in two relays at the championships. The Cougars were selected for the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, in which they placed first and second, respectively, at the MWC Championships. BYU's Brett Allen will race the 50 and 100 free after winning both events at the league championships. He is undefeated in the 50 free this season and holds the MWC record in that event. Travis Price will compete in the 500 free and Jorge Azevedo will swim the 100 butterfly for BYU. Price was second at the conference championships, while Azevedo won the 100 fly. Air Force's Chris Knaute was invited to swim the 500 free, 400 individual medley and 1650 free. Knaute holds the MWC record in all three events.
