Cougar Divers to Compete at NCAA Zones Event to be held March 11-13 in Oklahoma City.
March 8, 2004 OKLAHOMA CITY - Justin Beardall and Scott Randall, two divers on BYU's swimming and diving team, are preparing to compete in the NCAA Zone E competition at the Aquatics Center at Oklahoma City College March 11-13. Both will be competing in the 1- and 3-meter springboard competitions diving coach Keith Russell said. "Our Zone consists of the Western United States," Russell said. "Although we will be competing against divers from the Mountain West Conference, our main competition will come from divers from the Pac-10." This competition isn't new to either Beardall or Randall. Both have competed in Zones last year and advanced to the NCAA Championships along with All-American teammate Aaron Russell. Beardall is the MWC champion in the 1-meter springboard and placed second in the 3-meter springboard at the MWC championships. Besides his victory in the 1-meter at the MWC championships, Beardall also claimed seven first place finishes this year.
Randall is the MWC champion in the 5-meter platform and placed third
in both the 1- and 3-meter springboard at the MWC championships. He
compiled five individual victories this season.
