COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming sophomore Gene Birks and junior Adam Miller have been named Mountain West Conference Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively. This is the first career weekly honor for Birks and the third of the season (fifth career) for Miller.

Birks, a Byron Bay, Australia, native, won two individual events and a relay in Wyoming's dual meet win over conference foe Air Force last weekend. He started the meet as a part of the winning 400 medley relay team that turned in a time of 3:24.57. Birks followed with victories in the 50 and 100 freestyles, clocking in at 21.42 and 46.64, respectively. For the meet, he earned 29 team points which was crucial in the Cowboys' 123-120 win over the Falcons.

Miller brought home a first-place finish and two second-place finishes at last weekend's Air Force Diving Invitational, collecting two personal best scores and a season best score in the process. He started the meet by winning the 3-meter prelims with a personal-best and Zone "E" qualifying score of 497.70. In the finals, Miller scored a 489.30 (a zone qualifying score) to place second overall. In the 1-meter diving contest, he scored a personal-best 297.45 for the win. Miller ended his weekend with a second place finish on the platform, scoring a season-best 382.00.
