COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV sophomore Dana Penn and BYU senior Rachel Smith Kunkel were named the Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for their performances last week. Penn, a native of Plano, Tex., swam to three first-place finishes in the Rebels' victories against UC Santa Barbara (189-101) and the University of San Diego (188-75), Jan. 22. Her time of 10:19.92 in the 1000 Free shaved nearly 10 seconds off her previous season-high and established a new league-high in the Mountain West Conference. Penn also eclipsed her previous conference-leading times in the 200 Fly with a 2:04.00 and in the 400 IM with a 4:28.74. Kunkel, a senior All-American from West Valley City, Utah, earns her third consecutive conference diver of the week honor and her fifth this season. Against Colorado State, Jan. 21, Kunkel swept the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. In the 3-meter, Kunkel's score of 320.90 established a new conference-high this season.
