MWC Women's Swimmer And Diver Of The Week Utah's Amber Walter and Wyoming's Ginni van Katwijk garner weekly honors.
Jan. 25, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah's Amber Walter and Wyoming's Ginni van Katwijk have been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively. It marks the second weekly honor for Walter and the first for van Katwijk. Walter, a junior from Kalispell, Mont., recorded two individual and one relay first-place finish in a dual meet win over Colorado State. She took home top honors in the 100-yard freestyle (52.99) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.66). In addition, she was a member of the winning 400-yard medley relay team that finished in 3:54.34. This season, Walter holds the top times in the MWC in the 50 free, 100 free and the 100 breast. van Katwijk, a sophomore from Grookebroek, Netherlands, captured the top spot in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events during Wyoming's dual meet win against San Diego State. She tallied a 260.10 on the 1-meter, just missing her season best of 261.98, while on the 3-meter, she posted a 285.89 en route to winning both events.
