COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - UNLV's Johan Claar has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week. Claar earns his fourth honor this season.

Claar, a freshman from Bankeryd, Sweden, won four of his five events in dual meets against UC Irvine and Air Force last weekend. Against UC Irvine, Claar took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.72), placed second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.53) and won the 500-yard freestyle (4:21.27). His time in the 500 free was the best mark in the MWC this year and the second-fastest time ever in MWC history. Claar held off Air Force's Chris Knaute in the 1650-yard freestyle by four seconds, winning in 15:29.74, the second-fastest time in the league this year. He won the 500 free in 4:33.64, out touching Knaute by .04 and was a member of the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:04.21).
