Tan posted four individual victories, was a part of the Cougars' 400-yard medley relay team that posted a victory and helped the 200-yard medley relay team to a second-place finish over the weekend. Against Iowa on Jan. 9, Tan took top individual honors in the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley with times of 1:51.26 and 1:51.72, respectively, and helped the 400-yard medley relay team to a victory in 3:24.19. On Jan. 11 against Washington, the native Singaporian, finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.94) and 100-yard butterfly (50.65), and aided the 200-yard medley relay squad to a second-place finish (1:34.44). This is Tan's third career swimmer of the week honor. Against Iowa, Russell turned in a score of 339.20 on the 1-meter springboard to claim the victory, while narrowly missing a victory over one of the nation's top divers (Arizona's Omar Ojeda) three days later at the Arizona Diving Invitational. Russell scored 346.05 points on the 3-meter springboard for the second-place finish, less than one point behind Ojeda. The Cougar men have this week off and will return to action Thursday Jan. 24 with a dual meet against the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
This week in the MWC: New Mexico and Wyoming travel to Colorado Springs to take on the Air Force Academy on Sunday, Jan. 20.
