Colorado State's Carlaw Named MWC Women's Swimmer of the Week Senior garners honor for the first time this season.
Jan. 11, 2002 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State senior Lyndsey Carlaw has been named Mountain West Conference women's swimmer of the week. Last weekend at the Irvine Invitational, Carlaw brought home a victory in the 100-yard butterfly (58.12), as well as top five finishes in 100-yard freestyle (2nd place, 52.86), 200-yard individual medley (3rd, 2:09.92) and 50-yard freestyle (4th, 24.54). The University Place, Wash., native finished her busy weekend by turning in a sixth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.48), a seventh-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley (4:44.88) and a 14th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.17). This is Carlaw's first career swimmer of the week award. Colorado State returns to the pool on Friday, Jan. 18 with a dual meet against BYU in Provo, Utah.
This week in the MWC: The Air Force Academy travels to Utah for dual meets against BYU on Saturday, Jan. 12 and Utah on Sunday, Jan. 13. San Diego State travels to Irvine for the second straight weekend for a double-dual meet against UC Irvine and Fresno State on Jan. 12, while UNLV travels to Honolulu for a dual meet against Hawaii and Utah duals with Washington on Friday, Jan. 11 in Federal Way, Wash.
