New Mexico's Carson and BYU's Einfeldt Named MWC Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week Einfeldt garners honor for third time this season.
Jan. 10, 2001
Colorado Springs, Colo. - University of New Mexico junior Amanda Carson and BYU sophomore Kelli Einfeldt have been selected as the Mountain West Conference women's swimmer and diver of the week, respectively. At the Florida Atlantic University Invitational, Jan. 6, Carson swam to a pair of 1st-place finishes and one 2nd-place finish. The Boulder, Colo., native set a personal best in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:07.10. That time also ranks amongst the top five best in the conference this season. Her 1st-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley and 2nd-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (58.86) were instrumental in capturing the Lobos 2nd-place team finish out of seven teams overall. Earning Diver of the Week honors for the third time this season, Einfeldt placed first on the 1- and 3-meter springboard, with scores of 166.65 and 198.75, respectively, against the University of Washington, Jan. 6. The Salt Lake City, Utah, native has swept both events three times this season. Up Next: New Mexico travels to Denver, Colo., Jan. 19, to face Denver University while BYU diving heads to the Arizona Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., Jan. 12-13.
