Miami, Fla. - The Colorado State swimming and diving team kicked off the 2005 calendar year at the Matt Gribble Invitational at the University of Miami in a non-scored meet. Florida, Florida International, Miami, Penn State, Vassar and Virginia Tech were also in attendance. In the morning session, the Rams finished sixth in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:37.64 and placed seventh in the 200 yard medley relay posting a time of 1:50.25.

Individually, senior Lyndsey McCaslin finished sixth in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.35, while Alyson Aggers was right behind her in seventh at 1:06.53 -- which is a season best time for Aggers. In the 200 yard butterfly, Sara Servold placed sixth with a season-best time of 2:06.26. Amy Abrams swam a 59.14 in the 100 yard backstroke to finish seventh and Karin Knudson placed 11th in the 50 yard freestyle with a clocking of 24.72 which is her season-best time. Celes Parks swam the 1650 yard freestyle in 17:48.45 to finish 13th, while Taylor Felton and Sarah DeLapp were 14th and 15th, respectively, in the same race. Chandra Engs finished 16th in the 200 yard freestyle, swimming a 1:55.82.

In the women's 1-meter diving, Amber Utesch finished 12th, while Elyse Hall was 13th with scores of 185.4 and 182.95, respectively. In the 3-meter, Hall was 11th with 238.05, while Utesch placed 13th with 205.6 points.

In the afternoon session, the Rams finished sixth in the 800 yard freestyle relay in 8:02.39 and the `B' team finished fifth in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:10.10. Individually, Aggers placed fifth in the 200 yard breaststroke after finishing in 2:25.79 and Abrams was the top CSU finisher in the 200 yard backstroke, placing 12th with a time of 2:10.46. In the 500 yard freestyle, Tara Staley was 16th in 5:09.64, while Rachelle Kula and Sara Servold were 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 100 yard butterfly after clocking in at 1:00.14 and 1:00.21, respectively. Servold also finished 11th in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:38.56. Colorado State will return to the Moby Pool for a dual against Mountain West Conference foe Utah on Jan. 13.
