Scott Usher Earns Fourth All-American Honor of his Career

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming senior Scott Usher finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke at the 2005 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, earning the fourth All-American honor of his storied career.

Usher, a Grand Island, Neb. native, swam to a fourth place time of 1:55.33, breaking his own Wyoming school record in the process. With his fourth place finish, Usher earned the fourth First-Team All-American honor of his career. He earned Wyoming 15 team points which gives the Cowboys a final ranking of 25th in the nation.

"I am happy that Scott came back and had a good day," said UW head coach Tom Johnson. "He swam a very good race and broke his own school record. He seemed to catch the field in the open water but fell a little behind out of the turns. I am very happy that we finished in the top-25 in the nation. Overall, it was great to see him close out on a positive note and leave Wyoming with four All-American honors."

Vladislav Polyalov of Alabama won the race in a time of 1:53.93. Northwestern's Mike Alexandrov finished second in a time of 1:54.04 and Standford's Gary Marshall rounded out the top-three with a time of 1:54.54.

Usher will return to action next week as he joins teammate Lindsey Russenberger to compete in the World Championship Trials in Indianapolis, Ind. beginning on April 1.
