College Station, Texas- University of New Mexico diver Becca Barras had a solid showing on Thursday and Friday at the 2004 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, placing in the top-25 in both springboard events. Barras (Kitchener, Ontario), who was the only UNM representative at the championships, competed against top divers from schools such as Tennessee, Louisiana State, Alabama, Auburn, Hawaii and South Carolina.

On Thursday, the Lobo diver competed in the 1-meter event. She captured a 21st-place finish with a score of 248.30, but it was not enough to boost her into the 1-meter finals.

On Friday, Barras showed great form on the 3-meter springboard, placing 18th out of 40 divers in the competition. She scored a 466.25, bettering her diving zone score of 441.55.

The 2004 NCAA Championships marks the end of the diving season for the UNM junior. Barras had an outstanding year, winning two MWC diver of the week awards and garnering two MWC Championships titles in the 1-meter and platform. Barras was also named to the All-MWC first team for her outstanding performances at the 2004 MWC Championships in February.
