BYU Four-Peats As MWC Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Champions UNLV's Hugo and Udroiu named men's and women's swimmer of the year, respectively.

OKLAHOMA CITY - BYU captured its fourth straight Mountain West Conference Swimming & Diving Championships tonight at Oklahoma City Community College. The men's team finished with 908 points, followed by Air Force (635), UNLV (591), Wyoming (547) and Utah (415). The women tallied 662 points, besting runner-up Colorado State (617.50) by 44.50 points. UNLV finished third in women's action at 574, followed by Utah (496), New Mexico (379), Air Force (329.50), Wyoming (295) and San Diego State (263). Fifteen new Mountain West Conference records and 16 MWC championship records were established at this year's meet. New men's all-time records (eight) include the 50-yard freestyle (Jonathan Hugo {UNLV}, 19.74), 100- (Scott Usher {Wyoming}, 54.24) and 200-yard breaststroke (Scott Usher {Wyoming}, 1:58.14), 200- (Randy Belliston {BYU}, 1:47.44) and 400-yard individual medley (Randy Belliston {BYU}, 3:53.30), 800-yard freestyle relay (BYU, 6:30.99), 200- (UNLV, 1:28.85) and 400-yard medley relay (UNLV, 3:14.88). New women's all-time records (seven) include the 100- (Raluca Udroiu {UNLV}, 54.60) and 200-yard backstroke (Raluca Udroiu {UNLV}, 1:58.30), 200- (Kristen Schneider {Colorado State}, 2:01.34) and 400-yard individual medley (Kristen Kaiser {Utah}, 4:21.22), 200- (Colorado State, 1:33.15) and 400-yard freestyle relay (Colorado State, 3:23.30) and 400-yard medley relay (UNLV, 3:44.41).
