    Welcome to the 2005 Mountain West Conference Basketball Championships credential and parking pass request site.

    Representatives of all media agencies planning to cover of the 2005 Mountain West Conference Basketball Championships, March 9-12 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, should read these instructions carefully and print out the PDF link at conclusion of this page for future reference. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Javan Hedlund at jhedlund@themwc.com or 719/488-4051.

    All individuals and/or organizations planning to work this year's championships must complete the following online forms:

    Hotel Reservations Deadline - Friday, February 18

    Credential Application Deadline - Wednesday, February 23

    Those unable to apply online should email Mr. Hedlund for a hard copy of the application. Submitting an application before the deadline does not guarantee a credential.

    The Mountain West Conference will also offer complimentary Wireless Internet during the 2005 tournament. Please contact Mr. Hedlund ASAP if you intend to use this service instead of a dedicated phone line.

    WORKING MEDIA CREDENTIALS - Credential approval will be made in writing and sent via email to the person submitting the request before Feb. 23. Credentials will not be mailed, but will be issued during the Championships. See the Credential Distribution Schedule below:

    Court access will not be available until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday due to scheduled closed practice sessions.

    Credentials can be picked up at Pepsi Center Media Entrance (1000 Chopper Circle) beginning Tuesday, March 8 at 1:00 p.m. MST. Media may enter the area itself at the corner of Speer Boulevard and Chopper Circle. (See Pepsi Center Site Map Link)

    You must show a valid photo ID to the Mountain West Conference officials staffing the Credential Desk to receive your credential packet.

    SECURITY - The following security policies will be implemented for the 2005 Mountain West Conference Basketball Championships:

    All individuals with credentials will be required to present government-issued photo identification, along with their credential, each time they enter the arena.

    All media bags will be inspected prior to entry EVERY time into the arena.

    PARKING - Media parking passes will be issued for the Media Lot C & E at the Pepsi Center. Enter the Media Lot from South Speer Blvd. and Chopper Circle. (See Parking Map link for more information)

    MEDIA HEADQUARTERS HOTEL - The Marriott City Center in Denver is the media headquarters (Media rate: $109 plus tax & $23 per night parking if applicable). Media desiring a room at the Marriott City Center must complete a Hotel Accommodations Request form via the online registration. You will receive confirmation via e-mail. If demand exceeds supply at the Marriott City Center, we will attempt to place you at a comparable hotel. The media rate at the Marriott City Center is only available through the online registration or by contacting Media Coordinator Javan Hedlund for a hard copy of the Hotel Accommodations Request. All individuals contacting the hotel directly will not have access to the media rate.

    If you must cancel your reservations, contact the Marriott City Center Reservations Department directly at 800/444-2206 and notify Mr. Hedlund of the cancellation. If the Reservations Department receives notice within 72 hours of your scheduled arrival, you will be charged a cancellation fee equal to one night stay ($109 plus tax). The City Center Marriott is located on the corner of 18th street and California. (See Downtown Map link for more information)

    TRANSPORTATION - There will be a complimentary media shuttle running daily (every 15 minutes) between the Marriott City Center and Pepsi Center beginning at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8 through 12:15 a.m., Sunday, March 13. Shuttle schedules will be posted at both the Marriott City Center and Pepsi Center.

    Shuttle transportation to and from Denver International Airport (DIA) can be arrange through one of the following shuttle services:

    The fares are $18 one-way, $28 round trip. The coupon will be honored both before and after the dates shown on the coupon, knowing that media come early and stay late. Counter location at DIA can be found on the coupon.

    The fares are $15 one way, $25 round trip; kids 8 and under ride free. Counter location at DIA can be found on the coupon.

    For those electing to rent vehicles while in Denver, parking at Marriott City Center is $23 per day. Having a vehicle does not guarantee receiving a Pepsi Center Media Lot parking pass.

    PRACTICES - All team practices during the 2005 Mountain West Conference Championships are closed. Teams may choose not to utilize their practice times or may choose to use a portion of the time allotted. Check with the respective Media Relations Director for specific information. Media members wishing to speak with coaches and student-athletes outside of post-game press conferences should contact that institution's Media Relations Director. No interviews will take place on the court, but will be conducted outside the gym area so that the next practice can start on time.
