DENVER -

In its first year of broadcasting, The Mtn. - MountainWest Sports Network earned four Emmy nominations and won two such trophies from the Heartland Chapter of the National Television Academy.

Steve Symkoviak and Jason Abell, art director and graphic designer for the Mtn., respectively, won an Emmy for the network's graphics package. Cari Towsend also won an Emmy for excellence in technical direction.

"I'm very proud of our team. To be recognized with these Emmys at our one year point is a testament to their professionalism and dedication to producing quality sports television for Mountain West Conference sports fans," said Kim Carver, network vice president and general manager. "MWC fans are the best, and they deserve the kind of quality sports television we work hard to deliver each day."

Sean Murray, producer, and Mike Gray, editor, were nominated in the Sports Promotion category for their Bowl Championship Series (BCS) preview and for their "Football Season in Review" program. Symkoviak was also recognized with a football entry nomination.

Jointly owned by Comcast and CSTV Networks, Inc., the Mtn. covers more than 200 intercollegiate sporting events annually and also provides news programming, coaches' shows, pre- and post-game analysis and feature programming about the Mountain West Conference.
