Part-time temporary position anticipated to end on or before June 30, 2005, with possibility for reappointment.
SALARY: $1,398.50 - $1,876.50 mo. Initial salary placement is based on knowledge, skills, and abilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent handles all admissions applications and transcripts for prospective student-athletes. Duties include: serves as the Athletic Department's primary contact with Enrollment Services; tracks and coordinates paperwork for all special admits; answers questions from incoming student-athletes, coaches, and parents on a daily basis regarding transcripts and/or admissions; reviews transcripts for admissions and NCAA Clearinghouse core requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; working knowledge of research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and working knowledge of the techniques and methods of interviewing. Ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge of the organization, procedures, and activities of Athletics; ability to gather and analyze data; ability to reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations; ability to participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews; ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally; ability to write clear and concise reports; and ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and other private and public agencies. Must have the ability to exercise professional judgment in dealing with a diverse student and administrative population. Must have knowledge of methods of organization and program management and a working knowledge of the basic principles, practices, and trends in Athletics. Possession of this knowledge and these abilities is typically demonstrated by the equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Must have strong computer knowledge and attention to detail. Experience in intercollegiate athletics with admissions and compliance preferred.
