COACHING ASSISTANT Assistant Men's Tennis Coach ATHLETICS Announcement No. 2650 Part-time temporary appointment anticipated to end on or before June 30, 2006, with possibility for reappointment SALARY: Commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skill level. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Men's Tennis Coach will teach tennis techniques and be responsible for assisting in building a highly competitive, Division I Men's Tennis Team. Assist in organizing and administering appropriate pre-season, regular season, and post-season men's tennis activities necessary for development of a high quality men's tennis program. Assess talent of prospective student-athletes and be responsible for recruiting top tennis athletes. Assist with the development of competitive schedules and making travel arrangements. Initiate and maintain communication with prospective student-athletes in line with NCAA and conference regulations. Assist with preparation of annual proposed budget and be responsible for staying within allocated budget. Assist with fund raising activities for the Department of Athletics and the Men's Tennis program. Assist in selecting and submitting equipment and uniform requests for team. Work with Student-Athlete Academic Support relative to eligibility and academic progress of team members. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of tennis skills and fundamentals. Working knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations. Ability to communicate with high school and college students. Ability to work with college-level athletes as a group and on an individual basis. Ability to motive student-athletes to maximum performance level. Ability to work successfully with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and boosters. Ability to work within the philosophy of the Department of Athletics, the conference, and the NCAA. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) and demonstrated ability in teaching tennis skills and fundamentals. Prior competitive collegiate playing or collegiate coaching experience. Three or more years Division I coaching experience preferred.
