DENVER, Colo. - As The Mtn. - The MountainWest Sports Network approaches the first anniversary of its September 1, 2006, launch, the pioneering network is expected to hit another milestone by telecasting a total of 6,000 hours of Mountain West Conference (MWC) sports coverage.

As of July 1, the first network dedicated solely to a college athletic conference had brought fans nearly 5,200 hours of unprecedented MWC coverage.

"We're hoping to top 6,000 hours, and are excited to look forward to even more MWC coverage and analysis during year two," said Kim Carver, Vice President and General Manager of The Mtn. "We also want MWC fans to know that we are continuing to work hard in pursuit of network carriage by satellite and cable television companies for complete access to our dynamic network."

Since last September, The Mtn. has telecast a total of 225 sporting events including:

87 men's basketball games (compared to 28 the previous year)
46 football games
32 women's basketball games
19 baseball games
16 women's volleyball games
11 softball games
9 women's soccer games
3 gymnastics events
1 ice hockey match
1 boxing match

For the first time, viewers can watch MWC women's Olympic-style sports such as gymnastics, swimming/diving, and track and field, as well as expanded coverage of baseball, basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball.

Also, for the first time, all 16 games of the MWC Basketball Championships were televised and available online thanks to The Mtn., CSTV and VERSUS.

In addition to live-game coverage, MWC fans have had unparalleled access to student-athletes and coaches via The Mtn.'s Campus Cams, which have telecast more than 1,500 interviews since the network's launch. Each of the nine Mountain West institutions has been provided with a camera that students or others on-site can use to capture post-game comments, record coach-hosted shows and more. The Mtn. is the first and only television network with a network of Campus Cams at all member institutions.

The Mtn.'s anchors and reporters also provide viewers with pre-game, halftime, and post-game coverage, as well as weekly analysis and seasonal wrap-ups. In addition, The Mtn. stays on top of breaking news and broadcasts press conference announcements live when available.
