COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Lorin Maurer has been named assistant director of marketing for the Mountain West Conference. Maurer will assist in all aspects of marketing at the MWC, including merchandising, licensing, advertising and corporate sponsorship. Her assignment also includes assistance with television ventures and the MWC Basketball Championships.
A 2001 graduate of Rowan University, Maurer was a four-year all-conference performer and a two-time Academic All-American for the swim team while earning a degree in health and exercise science. She earned a master's degree in sport management from the University of Florida while also working as the women's administration intern.
As an intern for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Maurer handled a host of responsibilities. She developed, organized, and implemented the inaugural NCAA Career Connections at the 2004 NCAA Convention, and helped devise the marketing and promotional plans for 2003 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball and 2004 NCAA Women's Frozen Four Championships. Maurer also assisted in planning and program administration of CHAMPS/Life Skills Conference, Title IX Conference, Conference Intern Seminar, and Regional and National Leadership Conferences.
Maurer's list of achievements includes an NCAA Women's Enhancement Scholarship, a Southeastern Conference Graduate Intern Scholarship, Golden Key National Honor Society and Mortar Board National Honor Society. She was president of the Association for Worksite Health Promotion while at Rowan, and handled several administrative duties while at Florida, including the coordination of senior student-athlete exit interviews, football game day recruiting luncheons, the women's basketball honorary coach program and the gymnastics VIP program.
