Description:
The Mountain West Conference is accepting applications for a Sport Administration, Championships and Communications Intern. This 11-month internship begins in August 2006. The Mountain West Conference offices are located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Responsibilities:
The internship will focus in the areas of sport administration, championships and communications with other duties as assigned by the Commissioner. Specific tasks may include:
- Game management and championship handbook updates.
- Coordinating championship details (i.e. awards, banquets, accreditation, volunteers, ordering supplies, etc.).
- Development of media guides and weekly press releases.
- Maintain statistics and update conference records.
- Sport responsibilities as assigned.
- Update conference website.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred. Consideration will also be given to a candidate that needs a full-time internship to complete a degree. We are seeking applicants with strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as computer proficiency. The applicant should be self-motivated, show initiative and meet established goals and deadlines. Experience in media relations and championships preferred. Travel along with evening and weekend hours are required.
Compensation:
$1,500/month, plus group medical and dental insurance.
Term:
August 1 - June 30
