April 18, 2002

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - For the seventh year in a row, the athletic department at Colorado State University will stage its largest community outreach event of the year, Ram Jam, scheduled for Tuesday night, April 23 in Moby Arena.

Doors on the north concourse open at 6 p.m., and the Ram Jam rally runs from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

During the event, each of Colorado State's sport programs will have an activity station in Moby Arena. Also, Cold Stone Creamery will be providing complimentary ice cream. Free soft drinks and popcorn will be available, courtesy of Pepsi, the CSU Athletic Department, and Sodexho/Marriott.

Colorado State's annual Ram Jam Rally is made possible through sponsoring provided by The Group, Inc.

New this year is a prize drawing, to be held at 8 p.m. Third prize is two Rams' sweatshirts. Second prize is four tickets to Colorado State's game with the University of New Mexico on Nov. 23. The grand prize is a trip for one youngster and a parent or guardian to attend the Rams' game at Air Force in Colorado Springs on Oct. 31. The prize includes a stay at the team hotel the night before the game - which will be televised nationally by ESPN or ESPN 2 - pregame meal with the team, and tickets to the game.

Winners must be present to win.

Ram Jam is the climax of the department's year-long community outreach program involving its student-athletes, coaches, and staff members, who visit local elementary and junior high schools weekly to promote the value of education, serve as mentors and positive role models, and promote awareness against alcohol and drug use.

Nearly every one of Colorado State's more than 350 student-athletes participates in the community outreach program at some point during the year.
