Assistant Coach - Women's Crew

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Part-time (hours to be determined) temporary 12-month appointment anticipated to begin July 1, 2005, and end on or before June 30, 2006. SALARY: Commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skill level. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the head coach, the incumbent will initiate and maintain communication with top prospective student-athletes in line with NCAA and conference regulations. The incumbent will assist in organizing and administering appropriate preseason, regular season, and post-season crew activities necessary for development of high quality crew program. Required to be knowledgeable and stay in compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the conference, and the University. Must help coordinate with Student-Athlete Academic Support Services to promote academic progress and eligibility. The incumbent will assist in developing competitive schedules and making travel arrangements; assist in establishing conditioning and weight training program for team members; assist in selecting equipment and uniforms for team use; and assist in developing and implementing practices. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include graduation or progress toward a degree from a four-year college or university in a job-related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and the desire and ability to work within the philosophy of the Department of Athletics, the conference, and the NCAA. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships on campus and in the community. Must have the ability to organize/motivate student-athletes to their maximum performance levels. Must have the ability to work with college-level athletes as a group and on an individual basis. SPECIALIZED REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree preferred. Two years of collegiate rowing or coaching experience. Good technical knowledge of sweep rowing and boat rigging. Required to be knowledgeable and stay in compliance with the rules of the NCAA, the conference, and the University. Demonstrated ability in teaching women's crew fundamentals. Must possess a valid driver's license and present current DMV driving records certificate prior to hire.
