FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A 144-page softbound book, "The Gold and the Glory," chronicles the life of Glenn Morris, 1936 Olympic decathlon champion and all-star
athlete at Colorado State University.
The book is written by Mike Chapman, former sports editor of the
Fort Collins Coloradoan and an author of 14 books.
Morris grew up in Simla, Colo., and starred in football and track at
Colorado State and was also the president of the senior class.
In 1936, Morris won the decathlon gold medal in the Berlin
Olympics. He later starred as Tarzan in one movie, and also played for
the Detroit Lions of the National Football League alongside another
Colorado produce, the late Byron "Whizzer" White, who grew up just
outside of Fort Collins.
