Assistant Coach- Women's Basketball

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Three (3) full-time temporary 12-month appointments anticipated to end on or before April 30, 2006, with the possibility for reappointment. SALARY: Commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skill level. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision of the Head Women's Basketball Coach, the incumbents will assist in organizing and administering appropriate pre-season, season and post-season programs necessary for a quality Women's Basketball program; assess talent of prospective student-athletes; assist in developing competitive schedules; make travel arrangements; initiate and maintain communications with prospective student-athletes in line with NCAA and conference regulations; assist in preparing annual proposed budget and be responsible for staying within allocated budget; assist with fund-raising activities for the department and the Women's Basketball program; select and submit equipment and uniform requests for teams; work with Student-Athlete Academic Support relative to eligibility and academic progress of team members. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include graduation from a four-year college or university in a job-related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Demonstration of ability to work successfully with athletes and University administrators, faculty, staff, students, donors, and boosters. Desire and ability to work within the philosophy of the Department of Athletics, the Mountain West Conference, and the NCAA. Ability to work with college-level athletes as a group and on an individual basis; and ability to motivate students to excel in all areas. Possess proficiency in all aspects of recruiting for a Division I university. SPECIALIZED REQUIREMENTS: Master's Degree is preferred. Demonstration of ability in teaching women's basketball skills and fundamentals required. Collegiate coaching experience preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license and present current DMV driving records certificate prior to hire.
