BYU Leads Mountain West In NACDA Directors' Cup Final Fall Standings

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU's fall sports season success in cross country, women's soccer, and women's volleyball placed it fifth in the final fall standings for the NACDA Directors' Cup. The Cougars are ranked highest among the eight Mountain West Conference institutions with 248 points. Michigan (482 points) and UCLA (298 points) sit a top the standings. Nine-time Division I NACDA Directors' Cup champion Stanford is third with 289 points, followed by Maryland (fourth, 275 points), and BYU. Four of the eight MWC schools placed in the final fall standings - Colorado State (35th, 122 points), Utah (45th, 107 points), and U.S. Air Force Academy (77th, 66 points). The final fall standings include the sports of women and men's cross country, field hockey, I-A and I-AA football, women and men's soccer and volleyball. The United States Sports Academy Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The United States Sports Academy, based in Daphne, Alabama, is in its first year sponsoring the program. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports - 10 women's and 10 men's. Each national champion receives 100 points.
